James Tybur is a Managing Director of Performance Equity and a member of its Investment Committee. At PEM, he focuses on sourcing, selecting and managing co-investments and fund investments across all private equity asset classes including large buyouts, small/mid buyouts, growth equity and venture capital. Prior to joining Performance Equity in 2010, Mr. Tybur was a Principal at Trinity Ventures, an early stage technology focused venture capital fund based in Silicon Valley, where he was responsible for sourcing, selecting and managing direct investments in early stage software and internet companies. While there, Mr. Tybur co-led several successful realized investments such as Bix.com (acquired by Yahoo!), CubeTree (acquired by SuccessFactors/SAP) and MaxPoint (MXPT). Prior to joining Trinity, Mr. Tybur held operational and strategy roles at VERITAS Software (acquired by Symantec), PolyServe (acquired by HP) and About.com (acquired by New York Times). Mr. Tybur started his business career at the Boston Consulting Group in Atlanta and Singapore and received his undergraduate systems engineering degree with honors from the University of Virginia and his MBA from Harvard Business School.
